Sydney's Inner West
This incredible park features 40 hectares of parkland and includes wetlands, beautiful wide open spaces, a playground, waterplay area, bike paths, picnic and BBQ areas and a cafe! There's enough here to keep you occupied for the whole day!
Bicentennial Park is truly huge... and there's so much to do... We've put together a map to help you locate what you're interested in and find the best spot to park.
There is an extensive network of bike (and scooter) paths through Bicentennial Park. It's a great way to get around this expansive park and you can even ride through the Water fountains! 8km of shared pathways make this the best way to get around the park.
You can also hire a bike at Bicentennial Park, choose from a two-wheeling dragster, cruiser, tandem or trike at the bike hire shop.
Playground and Waterplay
The kids playground and waterplay areas are separate areas and they aren't close together! The main playground is located near carpark P10C. The playground is shaded and includes equipment for all ages, the smaller kids love the climbing frame and slides, while the older kids had a great time on the climbing net structure - it's very high! The climbing net also sits in a giant sand pit so there's some messy fun to be had there too! There is an accessible Liberty Swing for use by those in a wheelchair and their carers (key is available from the bike hire shop).
The waterplay fountains are located further north of the main playground, up near the Treillage Tower. There's hundreds of metres of straight flat, tree-lined promenade which has different size fountains shooting water vertically at various times. There's also a small wading pool complete with fountains too! The kids had a ball riding their scooters through the water fountains.
Picnic & BBQ Areas
There are plenty of free electric BBQs along with picnic tables scattered around the park, see our map. The BBQ area near the playground is covered with a covered eating area also as is the one near the lake. Or just pack a rug and lunch and set up wherever you like, there are so many huge trees and excellent areas to choose from, you can even get a water view of Lake Belvedere. You can also grab a takeaway option from the Cafe at WatervieW or dine-in if you like!
There's plenty more to do here too...follow the boardwalk and explore the mangroves, go bird watching, climb to the top of the Treillage Tower and enjoy the views or just relax and enjoy the outdoors and sprawling green space, the choice is yours!
This is a great spot for a birthday party too!
One of our favourite parks to spend the day, there's something for everyone here and all the kids will leave happy (and exhausted!). It's a great venue for a birthday party or a family gathering too.
