Sydney's Inner West
Big Brekky is a friendly cafe with a relaxed atmosphere, a focus on quality Campos coffee and delicious and generous breakfasts.
This cafe serves excellent coffee and the most amazing pancake breakfasts (among many other things). There's a kids play area out the back which is fully fenced - basically they have the whole back yard to play in! Awesome!
The lovely Maundrell Park is just across the road too, perfectly located for a play after a yummy Sunday breakfast!
Review April 2015:
Well we haven't been in to the Big Brekky for a while so we figured it was time to come back and catch up! It was fittingly a breakfast catch-up too and it was all about the pancakes for us! Yum, Yum great coffee, pancakes, sun = bliss, just as we suspected....still great at the Big Brekky!
The kids play area out the back is very cool, they'll set up a rug and some toys and away you go, it's like a huge backyard with a cafe attached! There's tables out there so you can have your cake and eat it too. There's plenty of room for manoeuvring your pram through the cafe but large groups (like Mothers Groups) would be better out the back.
The cafe has a great vibe, lovely food and plenty of it, awesome coffee all in a very relaxed atmosphere. We won't leave it so long till we wander back again...
Review by KIDsize Living and inner west mum Jessika Steiner.
This popular Inner West café is ultra kid-friendly and inviting. As its cranking on the weekends its best to visit mid-week if you don’t want to wait for a table.
The food servings are generous and there are a few options like the tasty steak sandwich and glorious home made fruit muffins served with vanilla bean yoghurt that the little ones can enjoy. Specials change frequently and there’s always something exotic and sweet like the Persian orange cake. Of course Big Brekky lives up to it’s name, offering an abundance of baked, poached and fried egg dishes. My old time fave is the ‘Big Veg’ that includes a variety of vegetarian fare like garlic mushrooms, home spiced beans and fresh pesto – yummo!
Apart from the menu the best thing about this place is the shaded outdoor seating and kid’s play corner flanked by a bright mural. Although a little grubby at times, the bathroom also has a change table to accommodate bubs. Highchairs and toys are available too! Whats more there’s a lovely piece of soft grass for older kidlets to run around on while you sip your Campos coffee in the sun.
Note: Inside the actual cafe is quite small and probably only big enough for maximum one or two strollers. The outside space would be best especially for a group of parents with babies, toddlers and prams in tow.
Love that place! Great coffee and the kids are fenced in ;)
