Sydney's Inner West
A large, beautiful and historic park in the centre of Burwood, close to the shops. It contains a playground, tennis courts and a pond!
This grand old park in Burwood is perfectly located for a play, a picnic or just a relax in the sun.
The park is huge and full of things to do for kids. The playground is fully fenced and located in the southern side of the park near Park avenue. It has all the usual equipment a climbing structure with two slides, swings (2 with the baby seat), a small flying fox, a net climbing structure, a cubby house and activity structure for the little ones. All the equipment is laid over a rubber soft fall. There is a BBQ and picnic table conveniently located just near the playground.
If there's one thing that makes this park special (and the kids love it) it's the large duck pond, complete with bubbling stream and a little bridge - hours of entertainment right there! A couple of picnic tables by the pond means you can eat lunch by the water... although the birds may prove a problem - they are very friendly! The kids also love the giant chessboard.
While there's ample green space - a huge oval and other flat areas perfect for kicking a ball or playing frisbee, there's also some excellent paths for scootering. Winding in and out of trees with long, straight sections, scooter fans will be very happy! The kids also love playing in the rotunda.
Burwood Park has two tennis courts within the confines of the park. Courts can be hired from Burwood Council. There's a picnic table within the tennis court area also.
The park has two automated toilets, one has a baby change table. The council has also constructed a new covered area behind the amenities block. This area has a coffee cart within it and while it wasn't yet open, it won't be long until a coffee is close at hand. The park is across the road from the Westfield at Burwood and numerous cafes, so there are plenty of coffee options nearby.
There's plenty of street parking (some untimed, but mostly 1 hour and 2 hour parking) in the surrounding streets.
