Sydney's Inner West
A super location for a great meal or a kid's show!
CHP RSL has three different dining areas, all are kid-friendly.
Their Starlight Auditorium is the venue for many very cool shows for little people - Lah-Lah and Dorothy the Dinosaur have both played here.
Like many RSL clubs there are gaming machines and a fitness centre and plenty of on-site parking.
We didn't plan on heading to the Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL for lunch but with a string of kids in tow, some ice-skating exhaustion setting in and rain coming down we were just down the road so we decided why not?
Well we're glad we did! We had a very pleasant lunch in what has turned out to be one of the most kid-friendly places around! We headed to the Club Cafe where the menu is extensive, they serve Breakfast from 8.00am to midday, with an All Day Menu from 8.00am through until 9.30pm.
The All Day menu consists of burgers, toasted sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, salads, steak and some seafood. There are also Daily Specials and side dishes. The Kids Menu has a few popular choices and you can add a soft drink, ice cream and activity pack for an extra $3.50.
We had the kids Cheeseburger & Chips ($9), Penne Bolognaise ($9), we also ordered a small Hawaiian Pizza ($9), the Bacon & Egg Sandwich ($8), the Classic Club Sandwich ($13.50) and a Steak Sandwich ($15). The food was fresh, tasty, well cooked and well presented, it's pretty simple but well done, everyone was happy!
Given that it was lunch and the Viva Bar & Grill isn't open until the evening, you can sit in their dining area at the back of the club with great district views and plenty of room for the kids. They can wander around a bit and are well away from the poker machine and bar areas so it's a really comfortable spot.
Next time you come in for a show, stay for a meal! Parking is really easy and free and we can vouvh for the fact that you can stay dry in the rain!
