Sydney's Inner West
Located in Summer Hill, Envy Deli Cafe serves all-day breakfast, lunch, can cater your next function and even host it for you!
This delightful cafe in the heart of the Summer Hill Village has a gorgeous courtyard where you can sit outside under an amazing Jacaranda and enjoy something off their excellent menu.
It's very kid-friendly with highchairs, a toy basket and colouring pencils. Kids are welcomed and there's plenty of room for a pram or two. There's no children's menu but there's plenty of options on the main menu that would suit. There are two entrance areas - one in through the main cafe area, and one directly into the courtyard - the outdoor entrance is great if you have a pram and find it a bit tricky manoeuvring it through tiny spaces and down stairs.
The coffee is excellent and they do have a gorgeous selection of deserts and cakes that the kids love! Envy also makes many of its own pastries and cakes - always a plus!
There's plenty of street parking all around the cafe, or you can park in the parking area near the IGA. If you're catching the train, hop off and walk straight up the main strip - it's right at the end around the corner.
November 2014: We visited Envy Cafe Deli for lunch on a beautiful spring day, choosing to sit outside in the courtyard, and what a great decision! The Jacaranda was in full bloom and it was shady, cool and had a really relaxed vibe. You could easily dine alone, read a book or do some work or just as easily come here with your mothers group.
Prams are easily driven in through their side entrance on Hardie Avenue, there's plenty of high chairs and a very welcoming attitude to the little diners too.
We had a warm pulled pork wrap filled with succulent pork, tomato and coleslaw off the specials board. We also ordered a caramel milkshake and what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! A classic milkshake served in the big steel silver cup! It was excellent.
Other delicious menu options include a lamb burger with tomato, lettuce, eggplant and served with tomato chutney and minted yoghurt ($16) or a house made tart ($16) or soup ($11), both which change daily. The breakfast menu has all the classic choices but with a touch of Envy, sweet capsicum relish & lemon thyme aioli on the bacon and egg roll or home made baked beans anyone?
Little sweet treats are everywhere at Envy and they're all made on-site. The kids love the little cup and saucers made from marshmallows or little chocolate racing cars! Yum! and they look so cute!
The verdict - a beautiful cafe with a relaxed, friendly vibe. The perfect place to unwind, indulge and perhaps even take home a piece of artwork, all on sale on the cafe walls.
