Sydney's Inner West
A grand green space in the middle of Five Dock which has sporting fields, picnic areas, a playground and an excellent skate park.
Five Dock Park is located in Five Dock between First Avenue and Barnstaple Road. There is plenty of untimed street parking all around the park. The lovely Cremeria de Luca is located a few minutes walk away to grab a great coffee while you're on park duty or maybe a house-made gelato afterwards!
The park itself is large and has a number of areas within it. The sporting field is used for winter and summer sports and has a grandstand - this is where the toilets are located. The park has many beautiful spots for a picnic with picnic tables and BBQs dotted around, with plenty of trees and shade available too.
There is a small playground which is fully fenced and contains equipment suitable for toddlers. It comprises of one climbing structure, with a slide, a bridge, some play stations including a cubby house area. There's also a climbing mat and some low monkey bars. The playground is fully fenced and shaded and is located near the Five Dock Early Childhood Health Centre. The playground is in full working order but it is dated and needs a bit of rejuvenation.
The real attraction of this park - from a child's point of view - is the skate park. It's amazing! Take your skateboard, skates, bike or scooter and you'll have a ball. My toddler had fun just walking around it! The skate park is large, one of the largest we've seen, and has easy areas and more difficult, steeper areas. It's located on the eastern side of the park with the best parking on Ingham Avenue.
Not what you're looking for? There's plenty more parks to check out! Don't forget to check out the Cremeria de Luca also, a great pre or post park stop!
