Sydney's Inner West
'The Red Bug' playgroup is held in the grounds of the Ashfield Park each Monday during school terms. Children and their parents, grandparents and carers can meet other children and carers and enjoy some playtime in the park.
'The Red Bug' offers an informal point of contact for many families to a range of Council services such as Library story-time and environmental information.
At each session, The Infants Home Child & Family Services provides age appropriate books, toys, art and craft equipment, puzzles, games and activities that are appropriate to all 'pre-school' ages and stages of development. A variety of information on health, wellbeing and children's services in the area is also made available to parents. The Children's Services librarian visits the group once a month and runs a story-time as well as replenishes the books so that there is always new material for the children.
The playgroup meets in Ashfield Park (cnr Parramatta Road & Orpington Street), near the playground equipment. As it is an outdoor activity, it is not held when it is raining or during extreme heat. All children must be accompanied by a parent or carer.
